Although Jim loves to write page-turning novels, in recent years God has led him in a different direction. Jim now uses his storytelling abilities to tell true stories of God’s sovereign goodness in the midst of hardship and trials. His first nonfiction book tells the amazing story of Terry Caffey, a modern-day Job who lost everything overnight and then saw God miraculously restore him. Read on to learn a little about Terry Caffey and about one of Jim’s new book projects.
Terror by Night: The Terry Caffey Story
At 3:00 a.m. on March 1, 2008, Terry Caffey’s life changed forever. Two young men–one them his daughter Erin’s ex-boyfriend–entered the Caffey house
and shot Terry, his wife Penny, and their two sons, Matthew and Tyler, then set fire to the house. Terry regained consciousness and escaped his burning house. He crawled nearly 400 yards to a neighbor’s home, even though he had been shot at least five times at close range. In the hospital later, he learned that his daughter had been implicated in the murders. Terry became suicidal, feeling as if he’d lost all reason to live. He gave up on life.
But God had other plans for Terry…
Terror by Night is the amazing true story of how God took a man who was shattered by a horrific tragedy and restored him fully. If you’ve ever wondered where God is in the midst of a trial or tragedy, read Terror by Night. You can order it by clicking on the following link:
Current project: Nate Lytle’s story
Jim is currently working on a book with Nate Lytle. In June of 2007, Nate fell off a ladder and suffered a traumatic brain injury. The doctors did not expect him to live; if he did, they said that he would not be able to function.
But God had other plans for Nate, too…
